Christy Whitman, former head of the EPA is taking the heat for failing to tell New Yorkers and the thousands of volunteers at the WTC how dangerous the air was.
She made a statement on TV that the air was SAFE to breath.
What else could she do?
If she bucked the system, she would have been fired or killed.
Did she even KNOW? - "Experts" wrote the report. She merely read it.

Now THOUSANDS of unselfish people who VOLUNTEERED to help at Ground Zero are DYING from breathing the toxic air that included ASBESTOS amoung the laundry list of deadly toxins.
While FEMA wore full face mask respiratory protection.
The NYC Firefighters wore TOTALLY inadequate respiratory "filters" - little more than flimsy cloth/paper masks just _slightly_ better than surgical masks (Which is what volunteers wore, if they wore ANYTHING).
Expect to see NY firemen dying from from the WTC toxins.
It's horrible.

The toxic cloud billowed across Brooklyn. Thousands more innocent people inhaled lethal amounts of deadly chemicals. Now they are starting to die.
$40.00 for everyone in the effected area would have provided respiratory filters equal to what all the FEMA people wore.
A TRILLION DOLLARS has been appropriated so far for the Iraq/Afghanistan war.
A State of Emergency should have been declared immediately and FEMA personnel should have been sent to distribute industrial grade breathing filters - THOUSANDS of them.
If people had been WARNED of the danger they could have covered their noses and mouths with cloths and stayed indoors. That alone would have saved thousands of people from a horrible, lingering death.
An army of HazMat crews should have been sent out to wet down and neutralize the toxic dust.
Wait - What, am I CRAZY? - That would have cost a lot of MONEY.
THOUSANDS more people are going to die because money is more important than human life.
