Given the obvious propaganda lies that are continually coming to light, like Saddam's WMD, it's reasonable to ponder how many lies from decades past have become accepted as undeniable truth. During and after WWII, people did not question what our government told us in the newspapers and newsreels. The Holocaust. How much of it is true? Just because you've been taught to believe something since childhood, does that make it true? From my Daily Rants: Sunday, December 18, 2005 I just heard a comment by Chris Matthews on Channel 4 that "There's some guy [in Iran] with a name you can't pronounce claiming there was no WWII and the Holocaust never happened." If you paid attention to the recent news reports, you'd know that "that guy" (BTW, he's the president of Iran) did NOT claim there was no WWII, but, rather, the Holocaust was a hoax to have an excuse to create the state of Israel. (Israel posseses weapons of mass destruction, like nuclear missiles.) Accusing the guy of claiming that WWII never happened was meant to portray him as a "nutjob" and an idiot. That's a classic propaganda technique. And it works. Anytime someone questions the severity or even whether the Holocaust happened, they are immediately attacked with insults and accusations of Anti-Semitism or even insanity. I don't know WHAT to think about the Holocaust. I've seen Websites that illustrate [alleged] "props" used to make fake films of atrocities, like a single train car set on a short length of track that became the train in a film that carried Jews to their deaths. I've also seen "alternative" evidence, such as photos from certain "Concentration Camps" that show that they were actually prisons holding convicted criminals. Play "Devil's Advocate" for a moment: What IF it was a hoax after all? The US would put the US firebase (Israel) in the Middle East to gain control and the people would be hoodwinked with sloppy propaganda and repeated lies. Anyone who questioned the Holocaust would be viciously attacked with accusations of lunacy and racism. Sort of what's been happening NOW with all the "Conspiracy Nuts" like me.
