8/12/05 How are we benefiting from war? How has the war in Afghanistan and Iraq benefited us? Well, the price of gasoline has more than doubled, because we overthrew the Butcher of Baghdad and stopped his evil practice of selling lots of cheap oil that kept prices down. God Bless America! Every good American LOVES war and we adore presidents who get us into wars. Unless you’re one of the thousands of American families whose sons and daughters came home in a flag-draped box, or worse; with half their brain blown out resulting in a breathing corpse. Or those who come home with missing limbs, missing faces, or the psychological casualties who have PTSD so bad they you’re afraid to be near them. Ain’t war just friggin’ GREAT? The Bankers think so. So do Raytheon and other military contractors. Halliburton got the contract to build the OIL PIPELINE THOUGH AFGHANISTAN to get the Caspian Sea oil and gas. Gee, ya think Dick Chaney might like this war, too? What other benefits are we enjoying from this war? Government borrowing and spending to carry on this war have brought us many more benefits besides astronomically high gas prices. Social spending is being cut thinner by the day. “Sliced too thin to fry” eventually. Poor people will die at an ever-increasing rate because Medicaid will pay for fewer and fewer medical procedures. Death by poverty. Poor people are already much more likely to have viable teeth extracted rather than saved by gold crowns, caps, root canal and other procedures because Medicaid simply will not pay for it. Worker’s benefits are being savaged as well. Insurance of all types is paying less and less to those who truly need and deserve to receive some of the profits the bankers make on their premiums. Remember, through the magic of “Fractional Reserve Lending” the insurance (banking) companies loan out many times more money than they take in, all at outrageously high interest rates. Your kid needs braces? Orthopedic procedures because of a High School football injury? Or, God forbid, your child needs treatment for Leukemia? Guess what – your deductible has grown more than the Mac Donald's Big Mac has shrunk. Cancer “treatment” (Oncology) is the biggest money-maker that hospitals ever had, so be prepared to sell you house, if you have one, or watch yourself or your loved one die even faster, because your insurance company is paying out a fraction of what it used to, while charging you larger premiums than ever before. How about aging Americans and healthcare? Older people on "fixed Incomes" - that is, old people living on old, inadequate pensions and inadequate Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid coverage. People who retired 30 years ago do NOT have enough pension money. "Cost of Living Adjustments" (COLA) do not apply in many cases, especially if the pension is based on 1960's or 70's dollars. Often our aging population must decide between filling their pre$cription$ or food. Really disgusting, considering we're the "Richest Nation In The World." Many elderly Americans are forced to become criminals by ordering their medications from Canada so they can save enough money to EAT and still have their Diebetes pills. Where are all the riches in the world's richest country GOING? When old people need to eat dogfood and catfood because our government doesn't seem to give a damn about them, what good do all those "riches" do? When old people have to go hungry or break the law by buying medicine smuggled in from Canada, then this is NOT a "rich" country. It smacks of Third World status. Are you thinking about retiring on a pension soon? Don’t expect too much. If you work for a private company and the banks decide to bankrupt (that is, re-absorb) it, well, expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed. Social Secuity, Medicaid and Medicare won't be much help either. Our government is spending our money on war instead of it's own people. Don’t you just LOVE war? Our roads, bridges, schools, mass transit, our entire infrastructure will continue to decline and very literally crumble as all of our tax dollars are sucked up by our government to pay the interest on their war loans. Most people are now working twice as hard for half as much. In most US households today, both spouses (except for the burgeoning number of single mothers) must work to pay the bills, and many of those work two jobs. A small number of people are sucking our money out of us like the parasites they are. Do you know that the so-called 'Middle Class' is also evaporating? One day we will wake up to find that there are mostly just rich and poor. The Professional classes such as doctors, scientists and so forth will still live a marginally better existence. How about the 'War on Terror' and all of this 'Homeland Security' crap? Do you feel safer now that Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) can search your home or place of business without a warrant? An “official warrant” can be obtained by anyone with a badge after the first secret (and evidence-planting?) search. Judges must now sign a warrant for any LEA that says, “We're hunting terrorists” You heard me right. Check out The USA PATRIOT Act and it’s sibling, 'Patriot2.' Patriot 1 entitled LEA to get a blank warrant just by saying, "ongoing investigation" so at least Patriot 2 gave back some 4th Amendment rights. On closer examination, though, the so-called "Patriot2" gives law enforcement and government in general far greater 'freedom' to infringe upon the freedom of American citizens; they just need to investigate you for aiding terrorists, directly or "indirectly." Perhaps saying that the "War on Terror" is just a strategy to take our rights from us may someday be considered "indirectly" aiding the "terrorists." Interfering with interstate commerce can be considered terrorism, so be very careful not to let your car break down in front of a tractor trailer hauling potatos to Pittsburgh. It seems our Fearless Leaders are paving the way to a time where "Homeland Security" Gestapo will be hauling people off to oblivion on a regular basis. Random stop and searches at train stations, bus depots, highways. Standing shoeless on cold, filthy airport floors while inspectors look for shoe bombers. Soon the authorities may be able to enter our homes without cause and menace our families rooting out “terrorists.” We may soon be required to carry Smart-Card National ID. The embedded microchip will hold all of our personal data and track us. It will be readable by scanners placed in airports, bus terminals, supermarkets - just about everywhere we go. Is THAT freedom? It's an Orwellian Nightmare. You think the National ID Card won't happen? All that's needed is another "terrorist" attack carried out by our own government just like the WTC. Then the People, with minimal prompting, will start DEMANDING the National ID, with embedded microchip. Many of us might even be open to the idea of having tracking chips implanted under our skin, the way many vets tag and identify our pets. People like me are called 'Conspiracy Nuts' to keep people from LISTENING to what we have to say. Anybody who questions authority is called “Paranoid.” We are "discredited" by infantile name-calling and mocking to make people laugh at us, but our detractors never present you with what we actually say and then present a critical, intelligent analysis. Maybe they should just say that we have cooties. President Bush himself launched a – sort of – pre-emptive strike in a post 9/11 address by saying, “Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories [surrounding the events of 9/11 or the motives of government]. What is he afraid of? That too many people might make the effort to take a closer look and start seeing through the “official” government lies? Why make such a statement? That statement is very revealing. It goes to show that he has something to hide and that the “Conspiracy Nuts” might just know what it is. Like the true reasons for invading Afghanistan and Iraq “Let us never tolerate free speech and critical thinking” is what he was saying. Isn’t that a de facto violation of the Fourteenth Amendment; telling the American people to self-enforce a mandate limiting the First Amendment? If people like me are just nuts spouting 'outrageous conspiracy theories' then why does he take us SERIOUSLY enough to tell all Americans to never tolerate what we have to say? The fool shouldn’t have mentioned it at all. We are losing what remains of our freedom through government lies endlessly droned through the Media into our compliant brains.
